Mark A. Smith

Smith, Mark Austin., age 31 of Burnsville passed away November 8, 2012 at Fairview Southdale Hospital due to complications of kidney disease and blood clots. Proceeded in death by his father, Sheldon and grandparents: Dorothy & Harold Nemitz and Alice & Chuck Smith. Survived by his mother, Bonnie; brother, Jeff (Sandy) and nieces: Sophia & Stella; also by other loving relatives and many dear friends.

Mark had a knack of being friends with everyone he ever met. His sense of humor was contagious, and he always made everyone laugh and feel good. Mark loved to spend time with all of his friends. His friends were a very important part of his life.

As a youth, Mark’s favorite activities were soccer and skateboarding. He also played basketball and football, but soccer was his true love. He played many years of traveling soccer for Valley United. Also to this day, he could still do a kickflip.

Cars were always a huge part of Mark’s life. After graduating from Apple Valley High School, Mark attended Dakota County Tech to become an Autobody Tech. Working on cars was his love, and the Supercoupe was his baby. Whether he was drag racing, showing it off at car shows or just goofing around in public, they were inseparable.

Mark loved doing many activities outdoors. Summers were a time for four-wheeling. Whether it was somewhere local or his annual trip up to Finland, he was always very excited to go. Fall time was for hunting. His love for it was growing, and he was looking forward to spending more time out in the woods. Winter was for snowboarding. He spent many days and nights out at Welch with all of his friends. He also enjoyed ice-fishing.

Mark, you will be missed by all, but we know you are with your dad, that you never knew.

As you would say, “It’s not all about me,” but this time it truly is all about you.
