Jeanne Dooley
(April 12, 1924 - June 27, 2012)
Jeanne Ann Dooley, age 88, of St. Paul, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband O. Lee and son Dennis. Jeanne grew up in Rosemount, and married Lee just before he left for Europe to serve in WWII. After the war, she and Lee raised ten children in Farmington, where they lived for many years. Jeanne’s parents were Ralph and Irene McMenomy. Her survivors include her brothers Edward and Pat; children Ann, Patricia, Mary, Stephen, Kathy, Margaret, Kevin, Terry, and John; grandchildren Jennifer, Sarah, and Holly; and great grandchildren Patrick, Aaron, and Ashley.
Jeanne’s life was always a busy one. In addition to tending to her home and family, she worked for a number of years as a nursing aide at Sanford Hospital, in Farmington, and later as a secretary at Control Data. She had a wonderful soprano voice, and enjoyed singing in church, local musical events, and anywhere else she was asked to perform. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Eventually, she and Lee retired to Silver Bay, on the North Shore of Lake Superior. After Lee died, in 1992, Jeanne returned to live in the Twin Cities area. For most of the past decade, she lived in St. Paul with her daughter Margaret, who served as her loving caregiver as she grew older. Last year, when she grew too frail to stay at home, she moved to Rose of Sharon Manor, in Roseville.
Jeanne’s family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Friday, June 29, at 12:30 pm, at Shelter A, Fort Snelling State Park, St. Paul. A service will start at 1 pm, and will be followed by a light lunch and refreshments. On Saturday, June 30, a brief burial ceremony will take place at 12 Noon, at St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery, Rosemount.
