Obituary

Madden burst onto the scene on May 7, 2010.  Our worlds were forever changed and he became the center of many people's lives. On May 27, 2023, he left just as quickly as he came into this world.  Madden was loved by his father, Joe McKean, mother, Lindsay (Gilmore) Koran, bonus dad Mike, brothers Mason and Max Koran, grandparents, Dick and Diane McKean, Keith Gilmore (Tracee), and Kim (Gerardy) Gilmore, aunts and uncles Jenna Gross (Cody), Stephanie Gilmore (Ryan Leonard), cousins Elizabeth and Madison Gross, and bonus grandparents, Jim and Jane Blair and Al and Roxanne Hannah.  Madden's circle of people that loved him was immense from great aunts and uncles, godfathers, cousins, and many, many friends and teammates.

Madden had so much love to go around.  He had a great love for his family, extended family, friends, teammates and coaches.  He was always the life of the party trying to make people laugh and wanted everyone to feel included in whatever was going on. He was a fierce competitor on the basketball court or the golf course, but we loved seeing him throw his competition off by joking around with them.  His energy was unmistakable as he celebrated his teammate's accomplishments and hyped them up during times of adversity. His passions were for basketball, golf, football and fishing.  As one of his friends said it best, "Madden was good at everything he did." Madden had a great sense of humor and the kindest heart.

In his 13 years here, Madden and his family became immersed in the community of Farmington, Minnesota. He was drawn to join the Farmington Lutheran Church with his dad, Joe.  He deepened his faith through bible study and had just recently received his first communion.  His family always thought he was their angel, but the pouring of outreach and love from his church, friends and community made us all realize he is everyone's angel.

Madden's community has been so generous in supporting his family that the excess donations will go towards establishing a scholarship program in honor of Madden McKean.  The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on how they've lived like Madden.  We want to keep his memory alive for many years to come and give back to the community as they have so lovingly given to us during this profound time in our lives.

Madden had a way of bringing people together throughout his life and also bringing out the best in them. He would be proud to see the support pouring in from the community he loved. Thank you all for coming together in our time of need. Memorials will be forwarded by the family in lieu of flowers to Madden's scholarship fund.
