Alexander Michael
Blaylock
Jan 6, 1964 — Jun 29, 2026
Apple Valley
Blaylock, Alexander M. age 62 of Apple Valley, passed away on June 29, 2026, after a 4-year battle with prostate cancer. Preceded in death by his father Michael Blaylock and niece Emma Blaylock.
Alex owned and operated Alexander Plumbing and was a plumber for 38 years in the Twin Cities metro area before retiring in January 2026. Alex started at Blaylock Plumbing right after graduation from St. John's University in Centerville, MN. He went to plumbing school while working full-time to become a journeyman plumber and eventually a Master Plumber. Alex enjoyed working on challenging residential plumbing projects and developed a solid business working in historic houses in South Minneapolis and St. Paul. But he enjoyed his customers who always became his friends the most. He always had a smile and a hug for them.
Alex was a lifelong athlete. A high school soccer player and captain of his team. He played fast pitch and slow pitch softball until he turned 50. It was on the softball fields that he met Beth and found a partner who loved sports as much as he did. Alex and Beth also played volleyball and broomball for years. But it was in the last 8 years he found his latest passion, curling. He was a very active member of the Dakota Curling Club in Lakeville and enjoyed playing in various bonspiels around the state.
Alex's happy place was up North at his cabin on Lake Minnewawa in McGregor, MN or out on a lake fishing. One of his favorite places to go fishing was on Lake Winnibigoshish. Thankfully he was able to get one more trip fishing at Winnie shortly before he passed. His Brother Paul and friends Roger, Tom, Scott, Ron and Jim made it possible for him to get out there one more time. Normally Alex would do 3-4 trips to McArdle's Resort every year with various groups of friends and family. In the spring he would fish for Walleyes but most of the trips were to catch Northern Pike. He liked to pickle the Northerns and give the pickled fish out for Christmas gifts.
Alex and Beth did not have kids of their own, but Alex was the favorite Fun Uncle to all his nieces, nephews and friends' kids. He could be found wrestling with them or being a human jungle gym for them to climb on. He always talked to them as an adult and found a way to make them feel special.
Survived by his wife of 36 years, Beth; Mother, Susan Blaylock; Siblings, Joe (Lorrie) Blaylock, Paul (Mary Lee) Blaylock, Richard (Linda) Blaylock; Nieces and Nephews, Cassidy Pen, Michaela Blaylock, Connor Blaylock, Brianna Lother and Jack Blaylock; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday July 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Becket, 4455 South Robert Trail, Eagan, MN. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lake Minnewawa Association (https://lakeminnewawa.org) or Dakota Curling Club (https://dakotacurlingclub.org) would be preferred.
