Alyssa Lea Schmidt, 3 2 years old, of Saint Paul , died on Saturday night of injuries suffered in a n airplane accident alongside her brother , Matthew Schmidt. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 4 – 8 pm at the Church of the Risen Savior at 1501 E County Road 42, Burnsville , MN . Funeral services will also be held at the Church of the Risen Savior on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11 am with an additional one hour visitation starting at 10 am . Alyssa was born on April 5 , 19 9 0 to Bill and Marlene (Regenscheid) Schmidt. She graduated from Apple Valley High School in 200 8 and received a degree in Elementary Education from Winona State University in 2014 .

Alyssa was raised on a beautiful tree-lined street in Burnsville, a place full of parks, lakes, and recreational areas. She was an active child and excelled at most everything she did including sports , school and other extracurriculars . At an early age, Alyssa spent countless hours at her sibling's soccer games. She loved cheering from the sidelines and socializing with the player s post-game. Soon thereafter she started playing herself and mastered the game very quickly . Alyssa also loved to dance and perform , whether it be in the living room , out in the yard or at any social gathering . Dancing was a release and grounded her soul – if you have ever seen her in action you understand .

In college, Alyssa played Division II soccer at Winona State University. She excelled on the field but more importantly in the classroom. It was here that she found one of her true gift s to the world, teaching the next generation . Alyssa invested so much time and energy into her craft . Her temperament, patience, empathy , and care for the wellbeing of others were a recipe for immediate success. Alyssa had an amazing way of engaging with children and extracting the best from each of her students.

Throughout her time on this earth, Alyssa was able to connect with all walks of life on a deeply personal level. She had this aura about her that made everyone feel special and comfortable in their own skin . People simply wanted to be around her, and Alyssa's circle of friends ran extremely deep. Her friends were very kind and stood by her side through all the ups and downs .

Alyssa was an amazing daughter , sister , aunt , cousin , partner and friend. Several years ago, she met the love of her life, Amber, and the two experienced the world from a new lens . They were inseparable beings that made each other better individuals . The love she gave for h er family and young nieces was perhaps her strongest attribute . She was always present, gave her full self and was concerned more about her family's welfare than that of her own. Alyssa gave everything to others and rarely ever asked for anything in return.

Her bubbly nature and energetic free spirit was on full display since the day she was born. Alyssa , your beautiful smile , sweet disposition , and unwavering care for all will live on with us forever. We love you dearly and may you rest in peace with your brother Matt .

Alyssa is survived by her parents Bill and Marlene Schmidt of Burnsville , MN; siblings Brad (Kristin) Schmidt of Denver, CO and Kim (Adam) Slota of Chicago, IL ; nieces Keira and Jenna Schmidt and Mila and Margot Slota ; and partner Amber Nasby of S aint Paul , MN . She is proceeded in death by her grandparents, William and Harriet Schmidt and Larry and Mary Regenscheid.
