Betty Lou
Gephart
Mar 14, 1956 — Feb 21, 2025
Apple Valley
Betty Lou Gephart, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2025, at the age of 68, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. She was adored by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Walton and Betty Spillman, and her brother, Gary Spillman.
As a child, Betty was affectionately called "Tippy," a nickname that came from her habit of prancing around on her tiptoes. This playful trait stayed with her throughout her life and was passed on to her daughter and granddaughter. Betty always dreamed of being a dancer, and her love for movement and grace remained a special part of her spirit.
Betty Lou was the most selfless person—she always put everyone else's needs before her own. Her nurturing nature and unwavering support for her loved ones made her a pillar of strength and love. Betty was the rock of her family, always keeping everyone grounded and providing a steady foundation of unconditional love, wisdom, and encouragement.
A longtime employee of Menasha Corporation in Lakeville, Betty was known for her warmth, kindness, and dedication. She was also deeply committed to her faith and instilled strong family values in her children. Betty spent many years teaching Sunday school, sharing her love for God with the children in her church community at Grace Lutheran.
Outside of work and church, Betty had many passions that brought joy to her and those around her. She loved baking, often filling her home with the sweet aroma of freshly made treats. Betty enjoyed taking long walks, especially with her beloved golden retrievers by her side. She treasured spending time with her sisters, creating lasting memories together. Family vacations, especially traveling with her husband, Mike, and their children, were a highlight of her life. Betty also loved relaxing at their lake cabin, where she enjoyed fishing and taking pontoon rides, creating peaceful moments by the water. One of her favorite activities was enjoying ice cream with Mike, a tradition that always brought her joy.
Betty is survived by her husband of 39 years, Michael Gephart; son, Matthew (Lindsay) Gephart; daughter, Elizabeth (Matt) Uher; three cherished grandchildren, Everett and Nolan Gephart, and Layla Uher; and her siblings, Judy, Lowell, Jan, Jeff, John, and Deb.
