Born in Tyler, MN, Betty grew up on a farm in nearby Russell, the eldest of six children. She played piano at church, was involved in basketball, drama, and played baritone in high school. She was valedictorian of her high school class. She graduated from Fairview Nursing School in Minneapolis in 1959 and worked as an RN for several years. She married Paul Youngner of Nelson, MN September 20, 1959. They settled in Eagan, MN where they raised their 3 children. Most summers, Paul, Betty, and the kids traveled and camped across North America. Betty was a meticulous homemaker, dedicated church volunteer at Mt Calvary Lutheran, prolific blood donor, voracious reader, and caring neighbor and friend. Her greatest pride was her grandchildren.
Betty and Paul retired to The Parkway Co-Op, where Betty was well known for her deviled eggs, breakfast casserole, and greeting cards with a mint inside. She felt blessed to be a part of the wonderful Parkway community for 25 years.
