Beverly Clarice Gorder, age 85, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 18, 2026. Beverly was happiest when surrounded by family, and she was blessed to have seen all three of her children and their spouses in the days before her passing.
Beverly was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on December 5, 1940, to Howard and Frances Jones. She was the oldest of four children, followed by her siblings Dick (Joyce), Peggy (Jerry), and Roger.
She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1958 and attended Augustana College, where she met Arnold Gorder. They were married on January 14, 1961, and together raised three children: Howard (Michelle), Jennifer (Robert), and Jeanne (Bryan).
Beverly later earned a business degree from Winona State University. A lifelong caregiver, she devoted herself to raising her family, managing a busy household, caring for her aging mother, and helping operate the home office for Gorder Mortuary Supply.
Beverly and Arnold shared a passion for travel and adventure. Their journeys took them around the world, including visits to Machu Picchu, Peru; Scandinavia; and a memorable trip following the Mississippi River from its headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico.
Retirement brought Beverly to the Gulf Coast of Alabama, where she enjoyed many years of sunshine, friendship, and community involvement. In 2016, she returned to Minnesota to be closer to family and made her home in Apple Valley.
Beverly was exceptionally talented and creative. An avid baker and cook, she expressed her love through handmade gifts, including knitting, crocheting, and personalized cards that brought joy to family and friends. She was also well known throughout her assisted living community for her love of turtles as she always wore her turtle shoes painted by her granddaughter, Brynn.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Frances Jones, and her brothers, Dick and Roger.
She is survived by her children, Howard (Michelle) Gorder, Jennifer (Robert) Gorder, and Jeanne (Bryan) Nelson; her sister, Peggy (Jerry) Kroon; her sister-in-law, Joyce Jones; her grandchildren, Alex, Alicia, Emily, Jessie, Cameron, and Brynn; and her great-grandchildren, Preston, Alexia, Sophia, Antonio, Quill, Quara, Koda, Skylee, and Madilyn.
Beverly will be remembered for her generous spirit, creativity, unwavering devotion to her family, and the countless ways she made others feel loved and cared for.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at White Funeral Home, 14560 Pennock Avenue, Apple Valley, MN 55124.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cassia Foundation in Beverly’s honor. Contributions will support Apple Valley Village, the Christian nonprofit senior living community where Beverly resided. Donations may be made at www.cassialife.org/donate.
