Bruce Lloyd SwensonBeloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend.Bruce Lloyd Swenson, age 84, was a Minnesota native who dedicated his life to his work, his family, and the many interests that brought him joy. He will be remembered for his knowledge, his practical skills, his wicked sense of humor, his love of adventure, and the many lessons he passed down to those around him.Bruce worked as an aircraft mechanic for Northwest Airlines for 26 years. Alongside his career with the airline, he also taught at Dunwoody Vocational School, sharing his knowledge and skills with others. He loved his job and was sad when he had to retire in 2005. His work reflected his mechanical abilities, dedication, and passion for teaching.Beyond his career, Bruce had a deep appreciation for life's adventures. He loved animals and children, and enjoyed flying, sailing, and traveling. He especially enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean, exploring the United States, and visiting Hawaii many times with Sandy. He also cherished their home in Texas, where he and Sandy spent each winter for 17 years. A car enthusiast, Bruce loved his cars and took great pleasure in them.Bruce was first married to Marilyn in 1960, and they shared two children, Teresah and Karl, before divorcing in 1990. In 1993, Bruce married his childhood friend, Sandra Polk, and shared 33 years of marriage together. Their story was one of enduring friendship, love, and a lifetime of adventures.Bruce was incredibly strong and resilient throughout his life. He overcame polio as a young boy and, decades later, battled cancer. Time and time again, he defied the odds and surprised doctors and nurses with his strength and determination.Bruce leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra Polk; his children, Teresah and Karl; his stepsons, David, John, and Jeff; and his grandchildren, Dani, Nic, Jeff, Landon, Sophia, Benjamin, Jennifer and Nicholas.Funeral ServiceA visitation for Bruce Lloyd Swenson will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
