Carol Irene Sumner of Lakeville, Minnesota (previously Burnsville) passed away Tuesday, May 13th.

Carol Irene Waltzer was born November 12, 1934 to Carl Waltzer and Hazel (Pollard) Waltzer. She grew up on a small farm in North Dakota and graduated from Grandview High School in 1952. Carol then moved to Minneapolis where she met and married her husband Lyle Sumner and they raised two daughters Lisa (Dan) Miner, Amy (Shane) Wood. She worked in banking and retired from her job at Wells Fargo at the age of 72. Carol enjoyed the simple things in life. Being at home, visiting with family and friends, reading a good book and spending time with her grandchildren: Grant, Mitchell, Erica, Garrett, and Abbigail.  In more recent years, her time was spent enjoying "couch time" and bingo with her community of friends at Kingsley Shores Senior Living. Carol loved her family her friends and her dog- Trinket.

Carol will be buried at Fort Snelling where a private ceremony, for immediate family, will be held.
