Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Ullery passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville surrounded by family.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28 at the White Funeral Home in Apple Valley from 5 pm to 8 pm and the following morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rosemount 10 am to 11 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 29 at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rosemount, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Charles Ullery was born on December 16, 1944.  His father, Charles Oberly, was killed in a military flight accident shortly before his birth.  His mother, Jane Oberly, later married Dick Ullery who adopted Chuck as his son.  Chuck grew up in Slayton, MN, and graduated from Slayton High School in 1962.  He attended Parsons College in Iowa and then jet mechanic school in California.  He was employed as a jet mechanic for Northwest Airlines for 38 years.  In 1970, Chuck married the love of his life, Mary Ruppert, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie, MN.

A man of unparalleled patience and eternal optimism, Chuck's life was exemplified by one of his most common sayings when met with challenge: "It'll be good".  His kindness, calmness, and empathy allowed him to accomplish an extraordinary feat of successfully raising five boys while maintaining a marriage of 55 years and never complaining once.

Chuck enjoyed traveling, playing cards, boating on the St. Croix river, cars and woodworking, but mostly loved visiting with family and friends.  He always made time to talk with anyone willing to listen, sharing his stories with warmth and enthusiasm, no matter how long they might be.  He truly loved people and his selflessness and generosity has touched many lives.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Mary; five children, Erik, Jacob, Ryan, Adam, and Patrick; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; and his sister Kate and brother Mark.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John.
