Obituary

Cheryl "Sherry" Ziemkowski-LaGuire age 78 of Eagan, MN passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025 surrounded by her family after battling cancer. Sherry was born and raised in Richfield and Bloomington, Minnesota. She attended St. Richard's Catholic School and graduated from Bloomington Lincoln High School in 1964. Later that year, on December 5, she married Greg, and together they built a loving home and raised their family in Richfield.

Sherry worked many years in human resources at St. Joseph's Home for Children. Upon retirement, she and Greg enjoyed their time at their cherished lake home on Sullivan Lake and spent winters in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Following Greg's passing, Sherry found love again with Mike, whom she met while singing in the chorus at Palm Creek Resort in Arizona. They were married on October 27, 2018, and made their home in Eagan, Minnesota.

Sherry had a deep love for music, especially singing and musical theater. She also enjoyed dancing, playing pickleball and golf, and spending time with family and friends. She was an enthusiastic game and card player, and a proud grandmother who attended many sporting events and activities involving her grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her first husband, Greg Ziemkowski; her father, Bill Yohn; her mother, Ginny (Yohn) Houg; her stepfather, Leon Houg; her brother, Dan Yohn; and her brother-in-law, Ron Ziemkowski.

Sherry is survived by her beloved husband, Mike LaGuire; her children Deb (Darrell) Heinecke, Deanna (Tim) Brake, and Scott (Judy) Ziemkowski; cherished grandchildren: Jill Heinecke (Frank Roberts), Natasha (Ethan) Koenen, Michele Heinecke (Matthew Muncy), Shelby (Nick) Richard-Hoffman, Addie Ziemkowski (Kevin Miller), Emily Ziemkowski (Brandon Gilman), Cassidy Brake (Ryan Gaitley), Amanda Ziemkowski, Kaylee Brake (Noah Shun), and John Ziemkowski; and great-grandchildren Lily, Charlie, and Melina. She is also survived by Mike's children Cheryl (Dwayne) Johnson, Michael (Vince Galli), and Susan (Jeff) Shambre, Mike's grandchildren Matthew (Alyssa) Johnson, Timothy (Mady) Johnson, Lindsey Shambre and Lauren Shambre; Mike's great-grandchildren Brody, Brooks, Jyntri and Dallas.

She leaves behind her siblings Bonnie Reeves (Paul Pfromer), Garry (Diane) Yohn, Joe (Kim) Yohn, Jeff (Kris) Yohn, Don (Anne) Sullivan, Greg (Laurie) Yohn, and Kevin Yohn; as well as her sister-in-law Lynn Ziemkowski (Terry) and brother-in-law Brad (Karen) Ziemkowski, and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 AM Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church, 4455 South Robert Trail, Eagan, MN, with visitation on Thursday (7/31) from 4-8 PM at the White Funeral Home, Apple Valley, MN also 1 hr prior to Mass at church.  the Mass will be live streamed.  The link is as follows: https://youtube.com/live/C_JnE1uYfPU?feature=share

Sherry will be remembered for her love of family and friends.

Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society or St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church.

Sherry's burial will take place at 11 AM on Saturday August 2, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery in Harding, MN, all are welcome to attend.
