In Loving Memory of Christal Welty-Peters
September 4, 2025
Christal Peters hoped to offer a long Texas goodbye to those she loved—but was called away sooner than expected. On September 4, 2025, she began her next journey, leaving behind a profound void in the hearts of family and friends who were continually uplifted by her loving spirit, sharp wit, and generous heart.
A Texas girl, Christal eventually found her way to Seattle, where she met the love of her life, Gil Peters—a man who, in her words, "took her breath away." Together, they shared nearly 25 years of marriage, later retiring to Minnesota to be near Gil's family.
Christal was welcomed in death by her parents, William and Zelma Welty; her brother Timothy Welty; her sister Katrina Welty; and a host of beloved friends, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Gilbert Peters; her sisters Deborah Rogers (Randy) and Nelda Johnson; her brother William Welty Jr. (Lisa); her cherished aunts Betty Smiley and Myriam Bourg; members of the Peters family; and many dear friends and extended family.
Christal believed that while all people die, not all truly live—and she lived with purpose. She earned her undergraduate degree in Marketing from the University of Houston and a graduate degree in Communications from SMU. Her thirst for knowledge never waned. She was a world traveler, a creative problem solver, a passionate lover of the arts and film, a fierce critic of unethical advertising, and a published author. She actively supported the Pro-life movement and volunteered at a safe haven for women affected by domestic violence.
Her faith was central to her life. Christal was a devoted member of St. Joseph's parish and a daily communicant. She wished to be remembered for her love of learning, laughter, creativity, service to others, and unwavering devotion to God.
Christal was like a pebble cast into a still lake—her impact rippling outward through the lives she touched. She was the kind of soul who stays with you forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 13900 Biscayne Ave West, Rosemount, MN 55068, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Preceded by a rosary service beginning at 9:45 AM at church. Interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to Pregnancy Choices (https://mypregnancychoices.com).
Until we meet again.
