Cynthia Anne
Dorniden
Nov 2, 1950 — Sep 5, 2025
Rosemount
Dorniden, Cynthia (Cindy) Anne, age 74, of Rosemount, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2025. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Charlotte Jones, parents-in-law, Frank and Ellrene Dorniden, and many other beloved extended family and friends.
Cindy was born November 2, 1950. She referred to herself as an "Army brat", as she and her family traveled frequently and lived abroad in Germany, among other places, while she was growing up due to her father's Service. They eventually moved to Minnesota, where she met her husband, Richard (Dick) Dorniden while still in high school. She graduated from Rosemount High School in1968, and attended Mankato State for one year, then married in 1970 to her husband of 55 years. Due to his enlistment in the US Navy for 4 years, they traveled, and had a daughter who was born in Maryland, prior to their being stationed in the Philippines for a year. They returned to Rosemount in 1974 and bought their first
home in 1977, then grew their family with the addition of two sons. They built their current home in 1987, to finish raising their children, she said "with God's help and love".
Cindy retired in 2012, after 36 years of employment with the City of Rosemount, completing her employment in the Public Works Department. She seemed to know everyone, and greeted all with warmth and a smile. If she just happened to be next to a stranger in line at the store or at an event, she would strike up conversation and quickly make them a friend.
Cindy's greatest loves in life were her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was an anchor for her family and friends, and was always there to lend a hand, a shoulder or share in laughter.
She loved children, being social, sharing a meal or day trip with friends, anything chocolate, traveling (her yearly tradition was to go to Mexico, and of course had to have a Mai Tai or two by the pool), Elvis, shopping, jewelry, manicures and pedicures, attending any and every sporting event, concert or school program for her children (and then for her grandchildren), attending the theater with her daughter, and
going to movies. She loved to sing, said she loved to dance (but noted that she was not very good at it), read romance novels and adored Hallmark movies – especially the Christmas ones! She was a great cook and an amazing baker and shared her treats with those she loved for almost any occasion, or just because. She recognized her friends and family with cards for special occasions, or just to let them know she cared. Cindy always had a smile and a hug for those in her orbit. She acted as an additional parent and grandparent to many, and shared her love, kindness and support generously - her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Cindy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard (Dick) Dorniden; daughter, Valerie; son, Josh (Heather), and son, Willie (Kristi); grandchildren, McKenzie, Cooper, Beckett, Henry, Gunnar and Tanner; two sisters, Sue (Darrel) Grouette, and Sheri (Don) Martin; as well as sister-in-law, Dyann (Dave) Klemann; brother-in-law, John (Mary Ann) Dorniden; sister-in-law, Linda (Fred) Lamb; brother-in-law, Frank (Connie) Dorniden; brother-in-law, Jim Dorniden; sister-in-law, Deb (Dean) Berg; sister-in law, Mary Jo Beebe; and several nieces, nephews, and an abundance of extended family and friends.
