Dale Richard Mundt, 85, died March 19, 2025 at home in Burnsville, MN. Dale was born December 25, 1939 to Glen and Edna Mundt of Ossian, Iowa. Dale cherished many fond memories of growing up in a small town with his older sister and brother. He graduated from Ossian High School in 1957. After high school he attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa majoring in mathematics and graduating in 1961. He began his teaching career in Forest City, Iowa followed by experiences at Mount Pleasant, Iowa and Albert Lea, Minnesota. Dale then began teaching math at Burnsville High School where he taught for 32 years. During his teaching career he continued his education and completed his Master's Degree in Math Education from Mankato State University in 1978. While working at Burnsville High School he was concessions manager, head of Advisor-Advisee program, supervised student teachers and was awarded Burnsville Teacher of the Year in 1982. Dale taught algebra, geometry,
advanced algebra, precalculus and honors precalculus. After retiring from teaching in June 11,1999 he substituted in classrooms for 8 years and tutored students up until his death. Dale has been active in church throughout his adulthood. When he attended Grace Lutheran in the early 1970's he served as church council president and head of the building committee. In 1978 he began attending Berean Baptist Church where he was a choir member, attended Bible Study Fellowship, and enjoyed the Discovery Adult Sunday school classes. Dale married Kathryn "Kay" Hardy on May 30, 1962 in Austin, Minnesota. They made their home in Apple Valley, Minnesota where they adopted two children, Kevin and
Susan. Dale was a devoted and loving father and took a great deal of pride in being a grandfather and great-grandfather as well as enjoying being an uncle to numerous nephews and nieces. Dale was an extraordinary person- faithful, loyal, patient and active throughout his entire
life. He played baritone saxophone in college and the community- South of the River Band. He umpired softball for 15 years, mainly at Lac Lavon Park. He was an enthusiastic sports fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, Lynx and Wild. He loved to watch all sports and played whenever he could- softball, tennis, bowling and of course golf. He took pride in planning the golf outings and sharing this joy with his
regular group of golfers as well as his nephew Glenn and grandson Jacob. Dale loved to take care of the flower garden, feed the birds and found pleasure in travel, especially planning a trip to Alaska for their 60 th anniversary.Dale was preceded in death by parents Glen and Edna Mundt, and brother Marvin Mundt. He was survived by sister-in-law Margaret Mundt, and beloved sister, whom he cherished spending time with, IvaNell Monson. Dale was further survived by wife of 63- years Kathryn; children, Kevin Mundt and Susan (Loïck) Le Déan; grandchildren: Jared (Amanda) West, Savannah (Vincent) Mussurici, Jacob West, Sophie Le Déan and Kerrien Le Déan; 6 greatgrandchildren; siblings: Brycen Carney, Hayden and Colton West, Anthony, Joseph, and Charlotte Mussurici and many other family and friends. Services will be held at Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville, MN on April 11, 2025 at 11am with visitation starting one hour prior. For those unable to attend, the services  will
also be live streamed via Berean's platforms.
