Dana Koens age 42 passed away at her home in Burnsville, MN, Monday June 16th, due to complications with liver disease. She was born in Luverne MN September 27th, 1982, to parents Richard Koens and Donna Hedlund.  The family lived on a farm near Jasper MN and just a few years later moved to Hopkins MN.  Dana attended her schooling in Savage and Burnsville.  She graduated from Burnsville High School in 2001.  During her schooling she enjoyed swimming and spent some time on the Burnsville Swim Team.

Shortly after Highschool she started working at Olive Garden as a server/bar tender.  She enjoyed working there and with her high work ethic eventually was promoted to Manager. She managed a few Olive Garden locations including Burnsville, St. Louis Park, and Bloomington.  She made a large impact on her co-workers and customers as they would describe her as kind and welcoming.

Dana had a very large love for all animals, including her ferret, guinea pig, and dogs she has had over the years.  However, her biggest love was her cats, Thelmer (Chunks), Midnight, and Louise (Mama).  She also had a large love for her friends and family.  She would go out of her way to help in any way possible whenever someone needed her.  She truly had the most giving heart.  Quote from her Facebook page "Love life. She is survived her Parents, Richard Koens of St, Louis Park MN and Donna and Mark Hedlund of Prior Lake MN; Fiancé, Raydale Cromartie of Burnsville MN; Sister, Rebecca Koens (Ryan Sauers) of Rockford MN; and her niece Kylee Sauers of Rockford MN. She was predeceased by her grandparents on her father side George and Dorothy Koens, along with her grandparents on her mother's side, Jacob, and Lorraine Fredrikson.
