Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Dane Reef Johnson, who left us way too soon on February 17, 2025, at the age of 34. Dane was born on October 13, 1990, and throughout his life, he brought joy and showed tremendous kindness to everyone he knew.

Dane is survived by his mother, Pavane Boesen (Sonya Betker), his father, Reef Johnson (Amy), his sister, Hunter (Jonathan) Overland, and his adoring niece, Olympia Winter, and look-alike nephew, Prior Pendleton.  Dane was a devoted, hands-on uncle, who would do anything to make them laugh, and they could never get enough of their "Uncle Dane".

In addition to his immediate family, Dane is also survived by his step-sister, Emma Marthaler, and step-brother, Charlie (Maddy) Marthaler. He will be deeply missed by his beloved grandmother, Judy Johnson, who Dane visited nearly every day.  There is also a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends that will miss him forever.

Dane was preceded in death by his Grandpa Ron Johnson, Grandpa Jim and Grandma Julane Boesen, who he spent a lot of time with before their passing and cherished dearly.

Dane loved the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting at the Shack, fishing local lakes, and ice fishing up north. He found peace and freedom on his motorcycle that he rode all the time in the summer.  Dane loved traveling, new experiences, and all animals, especially his dogs.  He worked hard as a foreman at a commercial fencing company for the past 10 years.

Dane, with his 6'3" stature, had the biggest heart and the broadest shoulders.  He was always eager to help and would give the shirt off his back.  Though he was a man of few words, Dane's presence always made an impact on those around him.  We pray in his honor, if you are hurting, please say something to just one trusted person in your life.  Private service to be held with the family.  In lieu of flowers or gifts for the family, memorials are preferred in Dane's name to #BeThe1To, vibrant.org/donate/
