Daniel Richard Fairchild, age 83, passed away on 18 September 2026 after a long illness.

He was born in 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Richard and Marion Fairchild, and was the eldest of three children. He is survived by his brother David and sister Barbara, as well as his children Jennifer, Matthew, and Samantha. Dan received great joy from his 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

After receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from Saint Louis University, Daniel began teaching in the Economics Department at the University of St. Thomas in 1976. Dan retired after 39 years of service and was granted professor emeritus status to honor his long-term contributions to the university community.

Dan’s family will hold a memorial service on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, 803 West Larpenteur Avenue, Roseville, MN. A gathering will be held at 9:00 a.m. with a celebration of life following at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dan’s honor to Union Gospel Mission, Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
