Anderson
Mar 15, 1940 — Oct 14, 2025
Burnsville
Dennis Lee Anderson, age 85, passed away October 14, 2025, at home In Burnsville and in the care of hospice. Born March 15, 1940, in Lake City, Minnesota, Dennis grew up with a love of sports, community, and leadership. He attended Lincoln High School, where he lettered in golf and football, participated in Boys' State, and was elected senior class president.
Dennis went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and built a lifelong career in finance. He was once described by a colleague as "smart, tough, and honest," qualities that shaped both his professional life and his personal character.
Dennis was devoted to his wife, Sylvia, and they were married 64 years. Together, they built a life filled with family fun gatherings, laughter, and adventure. Summers were spent boating with family on the Mississippi River, and weekends often found him on the golf course or in the stands cheering on his kids' teams. Dennis and Sylvia shared a love of travel, theater, concerts, and spirited games of bridge with friends. Dennis was an avid reader, often staying up late with a good mystery novel.
Dennis enjoyed coaching youth soccer, football, baseball, and hockey, leaving a lasting impression on many young Burnsville players. He also gave generously of his time through volunteer work with church and community organizations, always eager to lend a helping hand.
Dennis especially loved holding his little grandchildren and great-grandchildren— they brought out the very best in him, his face lighting up with joy with their presence.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; children Julie Ekelund (John), Christy Zimmer (Jim), and Mark Anderson (Wendy); seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his generous heart, infectious laughter and the resilience he showed living with chronic pain for much of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 7, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13801 Fairview Drive, Burnsville. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. and a reception afterward. Memorials to the charity of choice.
