Donna Christine
Marian Scholta
Sep 28, 1927 — Mar 2, 2025
Farmington
September 28, 1927 – March 2, 2025
Donna Christine Marian Scholta, 97, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025. Born in
McGrath, Minnesota, to Donovan and Christine Johnston, Donna was their beloved only child.
At 20, Donna embarked on her teaching career in northern Minnesota, where she met the love of
her life, Ross O. Scholta. After a brief courtship, they married and shared 65 wonderful years
together, raising four children—two sons and two daughters. Their family grew to include 14
grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense joy to Donna.
A dedicated educator, Donna had a lifelong passion and talent for teaching. She taught students
of all grade levels and continued sharing her knowledge even after retirement, teaching Sunday
School and painting classes at her retirement community.
Donna was a founding member of Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville, where she served
faithfully for many years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was devoted to praying
for and supporting others.
An accomplished artist, Donna found joy in painting across various mediums, with porcelain
painting being her favorite. She shared her artistry generously with family and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Ross, and her parents, Donovan and Christine
Johnston. She is survived by her children, Glenda (Mike) Yost, Donovan (Sandy) Scholta, Owen
(Nancy) Scholta, and Jo Ellen (Andy) Klein; her grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Donna's remarkable life will be held this summer. In lieu of
flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the donor's
choice.
Donna's legacy of love, faith, and creativity will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
