Obituary

Douglas Kenneth Peterson, 58, passed away on May 15, 2026. He was born on June 20, 1967, in Rochester, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school.

From a young age, Doug loved adventure. Whether it was exploring the outdoors, chasing excitement, or finding humor in everyday life, he lived life full speed ahead. His time with us was far too short, but Doug filled his years with love, laughter, jokes, stories, and unforgettable adventures that those who knew him will carry forever.

Doug was the son of Doreen and Dale Peterson and grew up alongside his siblings Debbie, Deanna, Dan and Brad. Family meant everything to Doug, and the bond he shared with his brother Dan was something special. The two went on countless adventures together and were truly best friends. He also loved his sisters deeply and treasured the time spent with his family.

Doug was a father to Alec, Sydney, Jaxon, and Jayden. While life took different paths at times, he always loved all of his children. His youngest boys, Jaxon and Jayden, were his whole world, and he was devoted to being there for them every day. He especially loved the humor he shared with his "Sunny Boy," Alec, who carries so much of his dad's personality and wit. He was also a proud grandpa who loved his grandkids very much.

Doug was known as the life of the party and a master storyteller. He could make people laugh with his stories and unforgettable sense of humor. He was loud, but gave the best hugs. He loved fishing, tinkering around, being outdoors, and having a cold one around the bonfire with family and friends.

Doug did a lot of questionable things in his life, and he would probably be the first to admit that, but through it all, his family loved him deeply. Life was not always easy for Doug, and he faced many obstacles along the way, but he continued to push through them with strength and determination. Through it all, he remained someone who loved deeply and lived life in his own unique way.

Doug is survived by his mother, Doreen Peterson; his sisters, Debbie (Steve); Deanna; his brothers, Dan (Jen);  and Brad, his children, Alec, Sydney, Jaxon, and Jayden; his beloved grandkids; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; his dear friend Wendy, who was by his side until the end; and many dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Peterson; his stepmother, Barbie; and his brother-in-law, Kevin.

Doug leaves behind many people who loved him deeply and will forever remember his stories, laughter, wit, adventures, and the love he had for his family. Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the love he gave will live on through everyone who knew and loved him.
