Obituary

Eleanor Walker Johnson traveled to her eternal home on August 14, 2025 at her Farmington home surrounded by her family. Ellie was the only child born to the late Weldon and Ellenor (Word) Walker on July 23, 1936, in Bridgeport, TX. Ellie was a 1954 graduate of Coral Gables High School in the Miami, FL area. Shortly, after graduating from high school, Ellie married Edwin Johnson on July 31, 1954, at Bird Road Baptist Church where they met through an introduction by Ed's sister and Ellie's friend, Lilly. Their unconditional love story took them on a life-voyage that started with God's call to ministry at Westwood Lake Baptist Church in the Miami area and continued through Ed's college and seminary studies at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Eventually, they moved to Rosemount, MN (1967) when her husband accepted the call to serve as Pastor of First Baptist Church of Rosemount. Ellie moved to Farmington, MN in 2000 when she and her husband retired after serving at the church for over 40 years. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Ed Johnson (2014) and son Mark Johnson (2020) as well as brothers in-law, James Morris and Carl Johanson and sister in-laws, Lillian Morris, Barbara Johanson and Fran Johanson and many dear friends. Ellie is survived by her daughters, Lorri (Paul) Ague, and Sara Tidrick; her son Rick (Lynda) Johnson; daughter-in-law Kya Johnson; grandchildren Kyle Ague (Dana), Paul Ague, III (Jann), Chrysta Johnson, Eryk Johnson (Liz), Courtney Linell (Luke), Dayna Salomon (Andres), Kelsey Tidrick, Casey Tidrick, Kendra Wenstad (Alex), Karissa Johnson, and Kalley Tidrick. She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, Elaina, Lilah, and Barrett (Ague), Lincoln (Ague), Santiago (Salomon), Nora and Natalie (Johnson). Additionally, Ellie is survived by her brothers-in-law Roy Johanson and Ray Johanson (Carole) of Florida and sister-in-law Vivian Bortz (Donald) of Lake Placid, FL. Ellie also leaves extended family, current friends and former members of First Baptist Church of Rosemount. Ellie was a committed Christ-follower and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Rosemount where she assisted and supported her husband as "Pastor's Wife" from 1967 until his death in 2014. Along with this, she had her own career roles at First Baptist Schools of Rosemount until her retirement in 2001. Ellie was involved in many ministries at the church during her life-long commitment, but her most recent ministry was her beloved Widow Ladies who held a special place in her heart as they supported each other with Bible study, prayer, encouragement, and care. Ellie was also a tremendous mother to her children, mother-in-law to their spouses, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She played an inspirational and encouraging role in launching her children out into the world as confident, independent, and God-loving individuals. Ellie loved to support her children and grandchildren by traveling to visit them, supporting their lives with love, indulging them with special gifts, providing encouragement, and always welcoming them with open arms for hugs. Mom's/Grandma's house (and eventually the "Party Room") was the hub for family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations. Ellie was a reliable and available friend. She was a Proverbs 31 woman of character and compassion. She was conscientious, honest, and trustworthy with her relationships, and her friends knew they could count on her. Encouraged by her grandchildren, she joined Facebook in her later years and loved the fact that she could continue to connect and pray for her friends literally all over the world. A long-time fight with the effects of diabetes on her earthly body contributed to Ellie's ultimate home-going. Fortunately, Ellie is now reunited in heaven for eternity with Ed and Mark and the many other friends and family who have gone before her. A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Rosemount at 11:00 AM on August 18, 2025, at 14400 Diamond Path West, Rosemount, MN with visitation beginning at 10:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to First Baptist School of Rosemount Scholarship Fund with notification made to Lorri Ague, 4791 S Harvest Moon Drive, Green Valley, AZ 85622. Arrangements were coordinated through White Funeral Home in Apple Valley, MN.
