Evangelynn "Vangie"
Florence Anderson
Feb 13, 1934 — Apr 5, 2025
Burnsville
Evangelynn "Vangie" Florence Anderson (Baltus), age 91, from Apple Valley, MN passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 at Regent of Burnsville Senior Living.
She was born on February 13, 1934 in Buffalo Lake, MN to parents Ervin & Della Baltus (Haag). She was the second eldest daughter in her family of six siblings: Lorraine, Leonard, Delbert, Marlene, and Darlene. She was raised by foster parents, Arvid and Alice Anderson.
She graduated from Buffalo Lake Hector High School in 1952. She married Dwain J.E. Anderson June 28, 1958 in Hector, MN, then moved to the city of Minneapolis, MN as newlyweds. Vangie held a myriad of jobs throughout her life, ranging from farm chores to a position at the patent office in Minneapolis, but her most cherished role of all was becoming a mother. Vangie and her husband, Dwain moved to Apple Valley, MN in 1963 to raise their family of two children Karen Melanie & Mark Jeffery. When Vangie's children began their own families, she was overjoyed to become a grandmother. Her four granddaughters—Beth Powell, Anna Johnson, Krista Johnson, and Nicole Anderson—cherish fond memories of baking cookies, putting together puzzles on New Year's Eve, learning how to garden, and playing board games and cards with her.
Vangie and her husband, Dwain, were charter members of Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, MN, having first joined in 1963. Vangie formed many lifelong friendships through her involvement in the church choir, working at the preschool, and participating in the Community Meals program (Second Harvest Heartland) at Grace. It warmed her heart to serve and support those in the community who were in need.
She was an active member of the Apple Valley community and became a charter member of the Garden Club, first joining in 1965. She was well known for her green thumb, whether tending to her own backyard or transforming the parks and gardens throughout the Apple Valley community.
Cherishing her memory, she leaves behind her sister Darlene (John) Malecha, son-in-law Lawrence (Karen) Johnson, granddaughters Beth Powell, Anna Johnson, Krista (Ian) Ludd, and Nicole Anderson. Preceded in death by her Father and Mother Ervin & Della (Haag) Baltus, siblings Lorraine Frey (Baltus), Leonard Baltus, Delbert Baltus, Marlene Howe (Baltus), husband Dwain Anderson, and children Karen (Anderson) Johnson and Mark Anderson.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, MN with a gathering of family and friends at 10:00 am with a luncheon following the Memorial Service.
