Obituary

Evelyn (Evie) Mae Zitterow (ne Anderson), age 93, passed away Tuesday, May 20th.   Evie was born October 18, 1931 on a farm in Woodlake Township, Lyon County, Minnesota.  She grew up on a farm in Russell, Minnesota and graduated from high school there in 1949.

Evie was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, George Zitterow, parents Roy and Lela Anderson and sisters Dorothy Lang and Ruth Wig. She is survived by children Bev Swanlund (Mark), Lee Rustman (Karen), Linda Appelgren (Douglas), and Beth Johnson (William).   She also is survived by grandchildren, Theresa, Kim, Stacey, Matthew, Stephanie, Jennifer, Daniel, Brandon, Angie, Kevin, Coral, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Evie worked many jobs throughout her life but spent her last 20 working years at Control Data.

She enjoyed the simple things in life:  Reading, gardening, cooking, baking, playing and listening to music, bird watching, and spending time with her dogs.  Evie loved family time above all else.  She loved entertaining her large family in her home – the more the merrier!

In her more recent years, she delighted in all of her friends and her new home at Valley Ridge.   She lived there since 2012 in independent living and then for the past 2 years there in assisted living. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her big smile, and her loving generosity.

Evie's family are so grateful to all the staff at Valley Ridge Presbyterian Homes and the staff at Moments Hospice for all the wonderful, tender, and loving care she received from them.

Memorial service to be held Friday, June 6th at 10 AM at Valley Ridge Presbyterian Home, Burnsville MN.

Evie will be buried next to her husband at Fort Snelling.
