Freda Clara
Ward
Apr 12, 1933 — Jul 5, 2026
Lakeville
Freda C. Ward, born on April 12, 1933, in Sibley, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was the cherished daughter of Lucy and Mark Baker, and beloved sister of Mary Baker, James Baker and Henry Baker.
Freda was a devoted wife to the late Elmer J. Ward of Ocheyedan, Iowa. Together, they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories until Elmer's passing.
She was a nurturing and supportive mother to her daughters, Kelly (Damon) Everson, Jennifer (Tom) Sarych. Her love extended to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Ashley Everson, Emily (Greg) Cromar, Connor Everson, Andrew Sarych, Tim Sarych, and Josh Sarych. Freda's joy expanded further with the arrival of her great-grandson, Stetson, born to Connor Everson. She fought to stay alive long enough to meet Stetson, and when she held him for the first time, her face lit up in a way that was truly beautiful to witness.
Freda was an extraordinary woman with a multitude of talents. As a master seamstress and homemaker, she had a remarkable ability to sew and cook anything with grace and precision. Her creative spirit and eye for beauty led her to graduate from beauty school, where she styled hair with expertise and flair. Freda was also renowned for her skills as a master wedding cake designer and maker, crafting intricate and beautiful cakes that were the highlight of many celebrations. Her dedication to her family was also evident in the wedding dresses she personally handmade for Kelly and Jennifer, each stitch a testament to her love and craftsmanship.
Her life was a testament to devotion, not only to her family as a loving wife and mother but also to her community, where her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Freda's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
Freda's family will be having a small graveside service in Ocheyedan, IA on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. All those who knew and loved her are welcome to join in celebrating her life.
