Obituary

Gail Patricia Johnson (née Fiskvik), age 84, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, surrounded by love.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Cora Fiskvik; beloved husband, James Johnson; and sisters, Joyce Skalla, Janice Smith, and Deloris Berg.

Gail was born September 5, 1941, and grew up in Watertown, South Dakota. She later moved to Minneapolis, where she met her husband at work. They married in 1965, had two children, shared 41 memorable years together, and built a family rooted in love.

She was a mother and grandmother, survived by her children, David (Amy) Johnson, and Lori (Rick) Anderson; grandchildren, Jacob Anderson, and Rachel (Taylor) Moon. She recently became a great-grandmother to Anderson (Andi Lynn) Moon, whose presence always brought a smile to her face. Also, sister-in-laws, Joanne Sable and Sandra Johnson; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Gail found her greatest joy in her close family and friends; she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. That love continues on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, who will carry her memory forward.

Gail also found joy in the simple beauty of the world around her. She loved flowers, the color pink, and had a special fondness for butterflies. In her memory, family and friends are invited to think of her when they see flowers in bloom, skies painted pink, or a butterfly passing by—gentle reminders of her spirit and presence.

Gail will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. We will never forget her warm smile, infectious laugh, and witty sense of humor.

A special thank you to Apple Valley Village Health Care Center and Grace Hospice staff for the exceptional care and support to Gail and family.

A funeral service to celebrate Gail's life will be held on Friday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation to begin one hour prior, at White Funeral Home, 20134 Kenwood Trail, Lakeville (952-469-2723). A luncheon will follow service. Interment, Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
