Genevieve A. Johnson Obituary
Genevieve Johnson, age 98, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior after a life devoted to faith, ministry, family, and service to others.
Genevieve was born on February 10, 1928, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Orlando and Bergetta Johnson. In her early years, she traveled throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota with her parents and two brothers as they helped establish and support churches. Those experiences shaped Genevieve's lifelong commitment to Christian ministry and serving others. She lived in Richfield or in Bloomington for 70 years.
A devoted follower of Christ, Genevieve faithfully used her musical gifts to bless countless people through mandolin and piano playing and singing at church services and Christian gatherings. She graduated from North Central Bible Institute and became a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God.
Genevieve had a special love for children's ministry and treasured her time at Lake Geneva Bible Camp, where she lovingly served as a "grandma" to generations of campers. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit touched many young lives.
For more than 60 years, Genevieve faithfully attended Christ Church International of Minneapolis, where she built lasting friendships and was deeply involved in the life of the church she loved so dearly.
Genevieve was employed by the United States Veterans Administration for over 30 years and retired in 1986 after a dedicated career of service.
She also enjoyed traveling with her close lady friends, sharing the message of Christ through Christian programs that used dolls as object lessons to teach and encourage audiences of all ages.
Genevieve loved people deeply and cherished her family and relatives. She will be remembered for praying for her extended family, for her steadfast faith, servant's heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for God and others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando and Bergetta Johnson; her brothers, Gordon and Harvey Johnson; and her sisters-in-law, Lou and Joanne.
Genevieve is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and many whose lives were forever touched by her faith and kindness.
Her legacy of faith, love, and ministry will continue to inspire all who knew her.
We extend a special thank-you and appreciation to the care givers at Meadow Woods Assisted Living, Martin Luther Manor and Accent Care Hospice.
