Henry Fournier
Iii
Oct 5, 1947 — Mar 9, 2025
Northfield
Henry "Hank" Fournier III (October 5, 1947 - March 9, 2025) died peacefully on Sunday morning, with his wife and eldest son by his side at home in Northfield, Minnesota.
Memorial services are planned for 3PM on Saturday, March 15th, at White Funeral Home in Lakeville, Minnesota. All are welcome. Those who wish to honor his memory may send a donation to the ACLU in his name (https://action.aclu.org/give/now) in support of civil liberties for all Americans.
Hank is survived by his wife Donna, sons Henry and Arthur, and was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Tina and sisters Ann and Jean. It meant so much to Hank to find his granddaughter Annie, and to know Maïa and Gracie. Other survivors include his sister Vera, and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and spent cherished years of his childhood in Mystic, Connecticut. He loved the ocean and sailing ships, and the poem Sea Fever by John Masefield was a favorite. He was passionate about photography, music, and art. His other interests included community theater, scuba diving, thrifting, antique shops, writing poetry, and chatting with friends in shops, cafes, and online.
He served as a U.S. Air Force base photographer in Minot, North Dakota and in Puerto Rico during the Vietnam War, and attended college at Minot State on the G.I. Bill after his honorable discharge in 1971. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology, and went on to attend graduate school at St. Cloud State University, receiving his master's in Sociology in 1975. He taught photography at St. Cloud State and the Dakota County Technical College. He worked for eleven years as a medical photographer at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, where he was appointed King of the Mardi Gras and recognized as the "Strongest Man."
His greatest love was his family life — his marriage of fifty three years, his two sons, and his daughter.
He will be dearly missed.
