Obituary

Irma Gomez O’Connor, age 71, of Farmington, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2026.

Irma was born on December 28, 1954, in Reynosa, Mexico, to Pascual and Maria Teresa Ortiz. She worked as an office assistant for many years and was known for her intelligence, strong work ethic, and dedication. A woman with a naturally curious mind, Irma enjoyed learning, exploring new ideas, and thinking deeply about the world around her. She spent much of her free time writing, a passion that allowed her to express her thoughts and creativity.

Irma also enjoyed sewing and knitting, and she was especially known for the scarves and hats she lovingly made. Through her creativity and the time she devoted to her crafts, she shared a little of herself with others, creating handmade pieces that brought warmth and comfort.

Above all, Irma was a devoted mother who instilled in her daughters the importance of self-reliance and independence. She taught them to be strong, to trust themselves, and to find their own way in life. These lessons were among the lasting gifts she gave her daughters, shaping them in ways that will continue through generations. Her strong faith was an important part of her life, providing her with purpose, strength, and guidance.

Irma will be remembered for her sharp mind, inquisitive spirit, determination, creativity, and unwavering faith. Her legacy lives on through her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the family members and friends whose lives she touched.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Pascual and Maria Teresa Ortiz; her sisters, Juany and Esther; and her brother, Antonio.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Robert) Snorek, Cynthia (Justin) Neudecker, and Erika (Alex Escoto) Baltazar Escoto; 15 grandchildren, Jessenia, Vivian, Sterling, Ashley, Jacob, Xander, Ethan, Elizabeth, Elana, Evan, Ever, Maebee, Archie, Khalessi, and Elo; two great-grandchildren, Vannessa and Oliver; her sisters, Lupita, Margarita, Mayte, and Paty; her brother, Ricardo; and other beloved family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at White Funeral Home, 901 3rd Street, Farmington, Minnesota. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Irma’s memory will live on in the strength she instilled in her daughters, the words she put to paper, the handmade scarves and hats that brought warmth to others, and the faith that guided her journey.
