Irwin Richard Berndt, 88, of Lakeville, Minnesota, passed away in Liberty, Missouri on Wednesday September 16th, 2026.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1938 to Marie and Irwin Berndt where Irwin grew up learning how to box from his Olympic trials participant father and learned from his parents to fight for what you believe in. It was after graduating Lutheran High school and earning his bachelor's degree in business that Irwin decided to fight for what he believed, preserving democracy and freedom under the red, white, and blue, and honoring all that the United States represents. Before beginning his active duty career in the army, Irwin met the love of his life Karen. They eagerly took on the adventures of the active-duty lifestyle and embarked on an advanced academic journey to eventually retire from his military career in Minnesota where Karen and Irwin built their dream home with their two children. Irwin was preceded in death by his mother and father. Irwin survived by Karen, David, and Alisa.

White Funeral Home, a private funeral ceremony is to be held on November 5th, 2026 at the Apple Valley Minnesota location and the military honors ceremony will be held at the National Fort Snelling Cemetery later on November 5th, 2026th in Minneapolis Minnesota.
