Johnston (Maas), Janice N., age 75, of Apple Valley, passed away at home on September 17, 2025, after a 5-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Preceded in death by her loving parents, Emil & Irene (Cramer) Maas; her godparents, Lester & Irene (Maas) Erickson; niece, Lisa Marie (Maas) Olson; and brother-in-law VW Groom.

A warm smile and welcoming spirit is how people described her. Her gift of planning, organizing, and doing was a gift that kept those she loved connected. A member of her faith community for 50+ years she was well known for her leadership and volunteering.  She'd never ask anyone to do anything she hadn't already done herself.

Survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Jay; daughter Stacey (Doug) Klein; grandchildren, Alex (Nikki), John and Christian; brothers, Mahlon (Barbara), Russell (Donna); sister, Karen Groom; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Service Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 11 AM at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, located at 7510 Palomino Drive, Apple Valley, MN. Visitation starting at 10 AM. Lunch served after the service, followed by interment at Lebanon Cemetery at 1:30.
