Jean Newman (née Dehne), 84 of Eagan, passed away on February 16, 2025. Jean was born on June 6, 1940, in Revere Minnesota. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School. Was married to Dennis Newman July 2, 1960. She spent 23 yrs. working for District 191 in the kitchen at several schools during that time, and built a life filled with love, family, and cherished traditions.
She shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dennis. Together, they created a lifetime of memories centered around their shared love of music, travel, and family. Jean especially loved listening and dancing to old-time music with Dennis. Their travels took them to Florida for Minnesota Twins Spring Training games and to Branson, where they enjoyed countless live performances. Summers were spent at the lake, where Jean found joy in fishing and relaxing by the water.
Jean had a deep passion for sports and was an enthusiastic supporter of her family's athletic endeavors. She loved watching her daughter play softball and took great pride in cheering on her only grandson, Brady, as he played baseball. Whether at the ballpark or watching from home, she was always one of their biggest fans.
Jean is survived by her loving husband Dennis; children David Newman, Lisa Vietanen, and Mike Newman; grandson Brady (Kora) Vietanen; sisters Elaine Schneider and Ruth Fordham; and brother Marv (Marlene) Dehne. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Lena Dehne; parents-in-law Charles and Elsie Newman; and brothers-in-law Richard Schneider, Ronald Newman, Gary Newman, and Greg Fordham.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, 11am, February 24, 2025, at Bloomington Living Hope Lutheran Church, located at 9350 Portland Ave S in Bloomington, Minnesota. Memorial visitation from 10-11am prior to the service.
Jean's warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.Minneapolis
