Jewel Marilyn
Steadman
Oct 5, 1931 — Jan 28, 2025
Farmington
Jewel Marilyn Steadman (nee Skogmo), 93, regretfully passed away on January 28, 2025 at her home in Farmington, Minnesota.
Jewel was born October 5, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Harold and Helen Skogmo. The family resided in Shorewood, Wisconsin, and moved to Northfield, Minnesota in 1944. Jewel graduated from Northfield High School in1949, and then attended Carlton College.
She met her former husband Gene R. (Spec) Steadman in Northfield, and they had three children: Jay, Sheree and Kirk. The family resided in Farmington, Minnesota.
Jewel was a wonderful homemaker and later enjoyed her employment at DCTC, where she worked for many years.
Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was always at the top of her list. Carving pumpkins, waffle breakfasts and bird watching, were some of the favorite activities. She took the time to teach her grandkids (as her mother taught her) how to prepare traditional Scandinavian dishes such as lefse, meatballs and lutefisk. The latter of which received no popularity! Other things she enjoyed were reading and knitting.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Scott S. Olson, and great-granddaughter, Liliana Thomas.
She is survived by her children Jay, of Washington, Sheree (Scott) Olson, of Farmington, and Kirk, of Farmington; Grandchildren Dave Olson, of Farmington (girlfriend Ashley) and Cherie (Jesse) Thomas; great-grandchildren Jewel and Moira Thomas, of Washington.
Jewel was interred next to her grandson, Scott, at Corinthian Cemetery in Farmington, on February 3, 2025.
A Memorial Service will be held at White Funeral Home in Farmington, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with a Visitation 30 minutes prior to the Service.
Jewel was very proud of her father's service in WWI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Farmington American Legion, Post 189.
