Joretta "Jo" Mae Lorentson, age 94, of New Market, passed away February 21, 2026, in Mohave Valley, Arizona.

Jo lived a long and fulfilled life. She spent many years working in banking, beginning at Elgin State Bank for 20 years and later at Marquette Bank for 11 years. Together with her husband Vernon and their son Fred, she operated Slick Away Garden Farm for 15 years. She and Vernon were happily married for 53 years before his passing in 2004.

Active in the southern Minnesota communities of Elgin, Lakeville, Apple Valley, Farmington, and Elko-New Market. Over the years, she built lasting connections through her involvement at St. John's Church, where she was a member for 44 years, the VFW Auxiliary for 30 years, and the American Legion for 50 years.

Survived by son, Fred Lorentson; grandchildren, Travis Lorentson (wife Tegan Lorentson), and Lindsey Lorentson; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ethan, and Aidan; sister, Dee Smith; Sue Rieschl and Jeff Rieschl, and their daughter Casey. Preceded in death by husband, Vernon Lorentson; brother, Doug Lorentson; parents, Edwin and Dorothy Fredrickson; and nephew, Mike Beckman.

Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 20165 Heath Ave. Lakeville, MN. Gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment later, at Lakeville Grove Cemetery.
