Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Julie Renee (Stiras) Hetland, age 56, of Farmington, Minnesota, who passed away unexpectedly at her home on February 14, 2026, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Julie was born on September 8, 1969, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Karen (Bensen) Stiras. She graduated from Robbinsdale Cooper High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Stout. Julie built a successful career as a project manager with Thomson Reuters.

Above all else, Julie's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 31 years, Jason, and a proud and supportive mom to her children, Jack and Emily. Her world revolved around them. She was everyone's biggest supporter in sports, academics, and life overall. She loved attending all of Jack's and Emily's events with unwavering support, along with as many of her family and friends events as she could attend.

Julie had a deep love and appreciation for anything involving the water. Whether it was being in it, floating in a pool, or simply just looking out at the water, she could sit there for hours. Her favorite thing to do was to go camping, it was her happy place. She loved sitting out at the campfire with Willie (the family dog) on her lap, with her family surrounding her, card games after lunch, hiking, and of course waterfalls. Any gathering she attended, you could always count on her to bring something delicious she had baked.

Julie was a beautiful soul who had the most contagious laugh that could fill any room. She was known for her compassion and kindness, which extended to everyone she met. When family and friends needed even the smallest of favors, she was always happy to step in and help. She had a special way of making everyone feel cared for and loved, which was evident in how many people lovingly referred to her as their second mom.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jason; her beloved children, Jack and Emily and her toothless dog, Willie; her parents, Kenneth and Karen Stiras; her brothers, Jeff Stiras (significant other Michelle Kluck), niece, Danielle, and Joel (Lisa) Stiras, niece, Elsie, as well as her loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and an abundance of adoring friends.

Memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 7, 2026 at White Funeral Home, 20134 Kenwood Tr., Lakeville, MN with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service.
