June Elaine Peterson, age 88 of Lakeville, MN formerly of Burnsville, MN passed away peacefully with family at her side on May 8, 2026, at her home in Lakeville. Her unwavering faith in Christ was the foundation of her life, guiding her words, actions, and love for others. She lived each day as a reflection of His grace and is now at peace in His eternal presence. June was born on June 27, 1937, in Swift, MN to Roy and Esther (nee: Nyheim) Mattson. The family moved to Roseau, MN prior to the beginning of her high school years.   After high school graduation, June moved to Minneapolis with a friend and attended nursing school at Swedish Hospital eventually becoming a registered nurse.  Just before graduation, June met her future husband, Palmer Peterson, while playing tennis at Elliot Park, near Swedish Hospital.  June and Palmer married on December 13, 1958, and had four children.  They moved to Burnsville in 1963 where June then lived most of her life.  When her children were born, June's primary career became homemaker and mother, and she was very good at it.  She did return to nursing for a period, working at a nursing home in the evenings.  After losing her husband in 2006, June and Karson Kruger, a longtime friend, began dating and eventually married on April 30, 2011.  They were married for 15 years and never left each other's side.  Besides her kids and grandkids, June enjoyed craft work, hunting for deals at garage sales, reading, projects around the house, golf, cross country skiing, time with family and entertaining on Loop Road in Burnsville, Potato Lake in Park Rapids, MN and Sun Lakes in Arizona.

June is preceded in death by her loving husband, Palmer; son, Paul; parents, Roy and Esther Mattson; siblings, Lois Parson, Marvin Mattson, and Kathlyn Nelson, also by brother-in-law, Fred Winter. June is survived by her loving husband, Karson Kruger; children, Debra(Craig) LaCount, Kent (Paula) Peterson, and Mark (Erika) Peterson; grandchildren, Peter (Meredith) LaCount, Sara (Josh) Schoaf, Kai Peterson, Jack (Natalie) Peterson, Megan (John Jacob Burns) Peterson, Emily (Cole) McDevitt, and Eric Peterson (fiancé, Georgia Ingwell); great grandchildren, Hailey, Jonah, Lydia, Esther, Calvin, Lily, Charlie, Kevin, Ellie and Brock; Stepsons, Brent (Jean) Kruger and Layne Kruger and step grandchildren Kayla Norberg, and Renee (Nick) McCarty; sister, Violet Winter; brother-in-law, David Nelson, also by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday May 20, 2026, at Hosanna Church, 9600 163rd St W, Lakeville, MN (Door 5) with a gathering of family and friends starting at 10 AM. Interment, Evergreen Point Cemetery, Lakeville. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Meals on Wheels in Northwest Dakota County, Living Well Disability Services or Lifeworks Services Inc.
