Prior Lake
Kevin John Casper
April 5, 1978 - May 28, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we share the passing of Kevin John Casper, 48, of Prior Lake, MN. Kevin passed away on May 28, 2026, at home surrounded by family and his loyal pets. He fought the noble battle against Glioblastoma (brain cancer) for 16 months and has now been healed eternally. Every step of the way, Kevin was firm in his faith, focused on his family and friends, and maintained his sense of humor.
Born on April 5, 1978, in LaCrosse, WI, he was the son of Dwight and Gay Casper of Winona, MN. After graduating from Winona Senior High School in 1997, and St. Cloud State University in 2001, he went on to a long and fulfilling 25-year career with Northwestern Mutual in Edina, MN as a financial advisor. He excelled in his career and built amazing friendships with his colleagues and clients. Kevin helped his clients realize their potential while guiding them through thick and thin.
In 2004, Kevin indirectly met Naomi at a mutual friend's wedding. The Chicken Dance brought them together. Kevin and Naomi (Thompson) married October 14, 2006. Together they shared 20 years of marriage and built a beautiful family including their dogs, chickens, and cats. Chase (16), Maryn (15), and Maddyn (11) were his true joy. Kevin was a proud dad and poured his heart into coaching them, teaching them life skills, and encouraging them to dream big.
In addition to his own kids, Coach Kevin instilled leadership and integrity in his many youth players, and they will hold those lessons throughout life. He coached football, softball, baseball, and basketball in Prior Lake and then Lakeville. He loved maximizing how God made each kid special.
Kevin was known to enjoy just one more cast fishing or one more hour hunting. His love of fishing (in MN, Canada, and some deep sea fishing ventures) and hunting (deer, pheasants, wild pigs, and attempted elk) allowed him to truly enjoy God's beauty away from the hustle of work and the city.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Naomi; children, Chase, Maryn, and Maddyn; parents, Dwight and Gay Casper - Winona, MN; sisters, Kari van Wakeren (Thomas) - Alexandria, MN; Katie Casper - Alexandria, MN; mother-in-law, Joan Thompson; brother-in-law, Mikkel Thompson (Melanie); sister-in-law, Ingrid Bentley (Erik); nieces and nephews: Esme and Reid van Wakeren; Carter, Collin, Keni, Gianna, and Emme Thompson; Annika, Ian, and Karina Bentley; and uncles, aunts, and cousins. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Ruth Casper, and Robert and June Fenstra; aunt Julie Kowalczyk; uncles, Dale Kowalczyk and David Casper; cousin, Liz Casper; and father-in-law, Paul Thompson. What an amazing reunion celebration he experienced in Heaven!
A visitation will be June 8, 2026 5-7pm at White Funeral Home - Lakeville, MN and June 9, 2026 9:30-11:00am at Hosanna Church - Lakeville, MN. A memorial service will be held on June 9, 2026 at 11:00am at Hosanna Church in Lakeville, MN. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kevin's life and legacy. A light luncheon will follow at Hosanna after the service.
Kevin's earthly body will reside at Lakeville Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to the Brain Tumor Network at braintumornetwork.org or to Naomi Casper, which will be directed to an annual KC Memorial Scholarship/Foundation.
