Obituary

Kirk Albert Reiners, age 70, of Burnsville, MN passed away unexpectedly Wednesday October 14th at his home from a heart attack. Kirk was born to Earl and Beverly Reiners in Clara City, MN on December 22, 1955. Growing up Kirk spent his days working the family cafe and helping out on Uncle Don’s farm. While attending Clara City High School he played multiple sports as the quarterback of the football team, Point Guard on the basketball team, and pitcher on the baseball team. He graduated from Clara City High School in 1974, from there he attended Willmar Technical and Community College where he continued his baseball career.

Kirk married the love of his life Dena Mae Stransky on June 2nd, 1979. They shared 47 amazing years and welcomed 4 beautiful children. 3 daughters Tanya, Alyson, Michelle and one son Lucas. He was a devoted Husband, Father, and the most proud Grandpa to his eight grandchildren. He was so proud of his family and loved to tell anyone who would listen just how proud he was.

After college, Kirk began his long and rewarding career in the lumber business. He loved the lumber Industry and as many who knew him heard him say “In order to retire I need to find a job to retire from.” Kirk was still going strong in his 51st year in the business at the time he passed. In addition to his “day job” he had a strong passion for making a difference in the next generation. From 1989 to 1993 Kirk coached the Burnsville Legion baseball team. Starting in 2010 Kirk took the reigns of the Heritage Links Junior League. At its peak the program had over 150 juniors enrolled. From there he started the Junior Academy and started his coaching career with the Lakeville South Boys golf team in 2014 as the JV coach. Shortly after that he became the head coach of the boys, eventually he took over the girls team as well and became the Director of Lakeville South golf. Kirk was so proud of every player that he worked with both in baseball and golf. Nothing brought him more joy than running into former players, sharing old stories, and seeing where their lives have taken them. He still checked in weekly with many former players and was so happy to hear all of their accomplishments both big and small. Kirk’s passion for helping others came from deep roots in his faith going all the way back to sundays in Clara City at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. His faith led him to being very involved with the church throughout his life. He was a sunday school teacher, member of the church council, president of the church council, and a Stephen’s Minister.

Kirk was preceded in death by his father Earl, step-father Wendell, and brother Grant.

Kirk is survived by his wife Dena, Mom Beverly, Children Tanya (Tom) Pruter, Alyson (Nick) Titus, Michelle (RD) Meyers, Lucas (Heather) Reiners. Grandchildren Haley, Gracie, Caden, Maelynn, Alexa, Everett, Harvey, and Avery. Sister Monica (Dalen) Gosseling, brother Jason Reiners and many close relatives.
