Obituary

Koonjbeharry Bandadeen, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025, in Minnesota. Born on June 3, 1935, in Guyana, South America, he lived a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength. Around 1984, he moved to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunity for his family and later worked at Northern Tool, continuing his lifelong dedication to providing and building a better future for those he loved.

In his early years, Koonjbeharry was a rice farmer in Guyana, where he found deep purpose in working the land. He was actively involved in every part of the process - plowing the fields, cutting the rice, and operating a rice mill. His hands were always busy, and his heart was always focused on providing a better life for his loved ones.

He had a passion for cricket, reading, and mechanics, and was known for his intelligence and steady presence. One of his greatest joys was spending winters in Guyana and summers in Minnesota - proudly living as a "snowbird" and staying connected to both the country of his birth and the home he built for his family.

Koonjbeharry was a devoted husband to his beloved late wife, Sumintra Bandadeen, a loving father, and a deeply cherished grandfather. He is survived by his three sons, Sonny, Rai, and Joey; his five grandchildren, Jerry, Jason, Sasha, Amanda, and Amelia; and his great-granddaughter, Angelina. He is also survived by his sister, Estha. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his four sisters - Babloo, Janie, Janet, and Nellie — and his beloved grandson, Anthony Koonjbeharry.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at White Funeral Home in Burnsville, Minnesota. Cremation services will take place on Saturday, November 29, beginning at 9:00 AM.

Koonjbeharry's life was a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and love. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the values he instilled.
