Obituary

LeRoy D. Larson, age 89, of Burnsville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025.LeRoy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Erika, and his sister, Dee McKee. He is survived by his children, Erik (Tish), Mark, and Julie (Chris); grandchildren, Josie (John), Jacob, Jena, Mason, Samantha (Jake), Gabriel, and Zach; his sister, Mary (Les) Bulau; and many extended family members and friends.

LeRoy was born on November 13, 1935 in Glencoe, Minnesota, and grew up in nearby Stewart, Minnesota. He attended Minnesota School of Business after graduating from high school, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and later in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany when he met Erika (Beisheim), who was working for the Overseas Weekly newspaper. He was honorably discharged in January 1961, and married Erika in March that same year. LeRoy worked for his father, who owned the local John Deere farm implement store, a business later passed on to LeRoy and his brother-in-law Les Bulau. In 1970, LeRoy and Les sold the John Deere business and LeRoy moved his family to Burnsville, Minnesota, where he resided ever since. He had a long, happy, and successful career in sales with the National Write Your Congressman organization.
LeRoy loved to travel, especially with his wife Erika to her native Germany, and they made the trip many times over the years. He was passionate about the U.S. military, and enjoyed creating model diorama scenes with military themes. He loved all things 1950s, everything about it, and especially enjoyed the music of the era, particularly the songs of Elvis Presley. LeRoy was known by his many friends to be gentle and kind, and his grandchildren in particular remember their Opa as being a wonderful story-teller.

LeRoy proudly served his country, and will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation and Celebration of Life service on Friday, November 14, 2025. Visitation at 9:30am followed by Celebration of Life at 10:30am. Faith Covenant Church, 12921 Nicollet Ave, Burnsville, Minnesota.
