Liane
Pfaff
Jun 10, 1949 — May 26, 2026
Burnsville
Liane Pfaff, born Prosch-Jensen, 76 of Burnsville, Minnesota passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. She leaves behind her loving husband John, daughter Elizabeth (Matt) Gordon, granddaughters Amber and Alexandra and a circle of friends who will forever carry her warmth, humor, and the gentle strength she had in life.
Liane was born June 10th, 1949 and grew up in St. Louis Park with her mother Marlys and brother Don where she developed several lifelong friends. She loved language, especially French and English, which led her to the University of Minnesota in 1967. There she met the love of her life, John, whom she married on campus in 1970. They shared a love of camping and traveling which they passed down to their children Eric, born in 1974, and Elizabeth, born in 1976. Liane became a stay at home mom while raising her kids, guiding them through scouts, sports, and life. Her generous and sweet nature led her to become "Mom" to any and all of her children's friends.
However, Liane was not one dimensional. She was a fierce fighter for her children, especially when Eric was diagnosed with cancer in 1990. She could wield her sharp mind and biting wit when necessary. She loved fighting for the underdog, and together she and John shared that lesson with their kids. Even after losing Eric to cancer in 1996 she stayed strong for her family. This strength is carried on in her daughter and beloved granddaughters.
John and Liane were married for 56 years and shared many adventures together. They traveled all over North America and ventured to Europe to her beloved France and beyond. They shared a deep love and playful banter. Together, they showed their love and devotion to each other in both small and big ways. They were exceptionally well matched.
Liane made friends where ever she went, be it school, church, AARP events and even at the grocery store. Open and articulate, she welcomed people at every turn. Her closest friendships, however, were formed in her neighborhood while growing up. She treasured Barb, Carol, and Donise for over 70 years and epitomized the Girl Scout song "Make New Friends, But Keep The Old".
Liane will be deeply missed. She was a wonderful wife, exceptional mother, and doting grandmother. A celebration of life will be held later this summer. She was buried at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers please write or call a friend, smile at a stranger, make a small donation of time or money to a place that has supported you or even give yourself a bit of grace if you need it. Making the world just a bit better is the best way to honor her memory.
