Lynn B. Keefer March 4, 1945 – February 27, 2026 Age 80

Lynn B. Keefer, 80, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. Born on March 4, 1945, Lynn lived a life marked by curiosity, service, leadership, and a deep devotion to his family and community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulda I. Keefer and David A. Keefer; his brother, Gary Keefer; and his sister, Sharon Keefer.

Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Joan Keefer; his children, David Keefer, Heather Kruse, and Joshua Maddux; and his grandchildren, Jackson Keefer, David Keefer, and Dain Howes. He is also survived by his brother, William Lippy, and two nieces, Mary Castteel and Sharon Steward.

A proud graduate of Gettysburg High School (Class of 1963), Lynn went on to earn his degree from Penn State University in 1967, where he studied Aerospace Engineering and Science. During his time at Penn State, he was an active member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and was elected President of the House. He later continued his education at Temple University in Philadelphia, earning his MBA.

Lynn's professional life was as varied as it was impactful. His first position after college was as a Civilian Geophysicist aboard U.S. Navy vessels, where he traveled the world measuring gravimetric and magnetic fields to support accurate aircraft navigation. He later served as a site manager in Pennsylvania for Sperry Univac, and after moving to Minnesota in 1976, he continued his work with the company on international defense and industrial programs across 16 countries.

He went on to contribute to special projects for the U.S. Navy, creating training films that showcased emerging technologies. Eventually, Lynn founded his own company, Sterling Design and Investment, where he dedicated himself to helping small businesses grow while fostering employee satisfaction. His consulting work spanned many fields, and in later years he focused on financial planning, particularly in the area of life insurance. Lynn also authored a book titled Blue Food.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lynn was deeply committed to his community. He served as President of his homeowner's association for ten years, leading many meaningful improvements. He coached his son's ice hockey and baseball teams and remained active in community development efforts throughout his life.

Growing up near the historic battlefields of Gettysburg, Lynn developed a lifelong love of history. He also treasured time spent camping and fishing with his sons, especially in the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. Those who knew him will remember his caring heart, dedication, creativity, and sense of humor—qualities that shaped every chapter of his life.

In lieu of flowers, and in celebration of Lynn's love for the variety of classical, jazz, rhythm & blues, soul and other music programming on Minnesota Public Television, memorials are preferred to Twin Cities PBS (TPT2) at TPT.org/give.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Timber Hills, 6307 Burnham Circle, Inver Grove Heights, MN.

May God bless our memory of Lynn, and may God continue to bless the lives of all whom Lynn sought to faithfully serve throughout his life.
