Marc "Mj"
William Jamison
Jan 6, 1971 — Jul 12, 2025
Burnsville
Marc, Marc-io, MJ William Jamison was born on 01/06/1971 in Chicago, Illinois to William John & Annetta Mould Jamison. He was the younger brother to Suzette and would literally be by her side until the moment he died. He was loyal, fierce, persistent and incredibly smart. MJ was born with a condition known as Down Syndrome and while that might have impacted his development, MJ didn't let it impact his life.
MJ grew up in Chicago until 1974 when his parents decided to move to Minnesota, which was known for its resources available to children facing developmental challenges. The family first lived on Portland Avenue in Burnsville, MN, where MJ enjoyed friends, family, and fires in the fireplace downstairs. In those days, Burnsville had large woods. MJ would often escape from the house and there were many "rescue
parties" to go find young MJ who was happily enjoying his freedom and success at getting away.
In 1976 MJ attended Sky Oaks Elementary School where he made many friends and enjoyed many laughs. MJ was in the yellow learning center which was the first ever special education class in all of Burnsville. MJ would then attend and graduate from Burnsville High School in 1992. In those earlier years, MJ found two unique joys:
1. Special Olympics
2. Donnie & Marie
Bill and Annette, along with other families, formed the first Special Olympics Burnsville Team. MJ excelled at Track & Field, and Bowling...he won many medals over the years, but always having fun and making friends along the way. Television introduced MJ to a couple of young stars named Donnie & Marie. MJ, who always had an eye for pretty, dark haired ladies was in love…he would remain true to Marie for the remainder of his life. MJ even had the indelible pleasure of meeting Donny & Marie at a concert in Minneapolis in the 1980's, arranged by his mom. There was even a local news story about this auspicious meeting of fan and singers.
In 1986 the family moved from Portland Ave. to Woodlawn Court. As MJ matured into a young adult, he grew to love 80's Christmas music, pop, laughing and jokes, pop, bats and watches, pop, obstacle courses for marbles, presents and family. (Did we mention Mt. Dew?)
The next big step in MJ's life was leaving home and moving into his 'own' place. MJ first lived at the Scott Avenue home within CBS before later moving to the Burnsville Crystal Program to be closer to his family and the community where he grew up. MJ stayed active in Project Explorer and was known for showing off his dance moves at community events. MJ's sense of humor lit up the Crystal program. He enjoyed playing pranks, like snatching water bottles and would often tell staff how much he liked them.
MJ could often be seen wheeling his housemates down the hall and proudly being a helper. The latter part of MJ's adult years was marked by some significant health challenges. MJ was prayed for many many times by many many people, and we all believe he had 19 lives. His persistence, strength and determination, combined with God's grace brought him through illness that would have easily taken lesser patients. But to MJ, the hospital had been a chance to get good food, cute nurses, his own bathroom and have people cater to what he needed.
MJ's Mom & Dad passed away too young in 2012 and 2009 respectively. That was a loss that MJ would grieve until the end. However, MJ's sister Suzette stepped into that gap with a giant heart and a love that spoke volumes. Suzette would privately refer to MJ as her 'brother child' and she guided and guarded him with love and devotion like no other.
MJ went to the presence of the Lord Jesus on July 12, 2025, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. He is survived by his devoted sister Suzette, loving members from the Jamison and Mould families, countless friends along the way, caregivers, long-time hospital staff, and housemates. He leaves behind an example to all of us of joy and courageous persistence.
