Michael John McShane October 26, 1943 - January 6, 2025
Michael "Mike" John McShane, 81, of Burnsville, MN, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born on October 26, 1943, in St. Paul, MN. He graduated from Cretin High School in 1962, attended St. Cloud State University, and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and Army Reserve.
With over 40 years in the HVAC industry, he became well known for his expertise. Mike was co-owner of Interstate Pipe Distributors in the 1980s. Mike's vast knowledge and willingness to help others made him a respected figure. After retiring, he was a DARTS bus driver, bringing joy to the many he served.
Mike touched countless lives with his warmth and kindness, effortlessly creating easy conversations with anyone. He had a penchant for humor, and his quirky jokes always brought smiles. He enjoyed dancing, golfing, downhill skiing, and any chance to dress up in his bow tie. Mike cherished time with family and friends, especially during St. Patrick's Day celebrations, gatherings with the Cretin guys, backyard BBQs, and lake time at his daughter's cabin.
He was a proud member of American Legion Post 1776 and the Church of the Risen Savior.
Mike was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Frances Vogel McShane, and his brother, James McShane. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Claudia Danner (Paul) and John McShane (Carmen); and his grandchildren, Eric Danner, Sophie McShane, and Drew McShane.
A Christian Mass will be held on January 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior in Burnsville, MN. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
Luncheon to follow Mass at the American Legion Post 1776, 14521 Granada Dr., Apple Valley, MN.
Mike will be buried at Fort Snelling at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
