Nancy Jean (Swanda) Ostertag, 79, of Farmington, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ione (Stoddard)  Swanda; her beloved husband of 41 years, Robert Leroy Ostertag Sr.; her son, Robert Leroy Ostertag Jr.; and her special foster son, Curtis John Steinbrink. Survived by daughter Debra Lee Ostertag.

Nancy had a generous heart and opened her home to numerous foster children from 1980 to 2008. She then continued her life of caring for others by providing adult foster care until her passing in 2026. Her home was a place of love, compassion, and acceptance, and many who came through her door lovingly called her "Mom."

She found great joy in life on the farm, spending time with family and friends, caring for her farm animals, spoiling her beloved dogs, and collecting all things Elvis. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on August 8, 2026, at White Funeral Home, 901 3rd Street, Farmington, MN 55024. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Peace, 2076 St. Anthony Ave, St. Paul, MN 55104 in Nancy's honor.
