Nancy Sue Treichel, age 75, passed away on September 3, surrounded by her family.
Nancy was born on September 30, 1950, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to Marvel and Phyllis Meier. She was the third of six children and graduated from Montevideo High School before attending the Willmar Area Vocational Technical Institute. After moving to the Twin Cities, she began working at Control Data, where she met her future husband, Robert (Bob). They were married on October 24, 1970, and together built a loving home and family.
Nancy devoted herself to raising her daughters, Teresa and Kari, teaching them practical life skills and sharing her love of camping, counted cross stitch, and reading. Nancy was an avid reader and passed that love along to both her daughters and Bob. As Bob likes to joke, he started reading so he wouldn't be left out. Later, Nancy returned to the workforce and worked for many years as a bookkeeper. During that time Bob and Nancy traveled and enjoyed taking cruises together.
Above all, Nancy cherished her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister and aunt.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; daughters Teresa (Dana) Podtburg and Kari Treichel (Mark Schwickerath); grandchildren Cassandra and Nicholas Podtburg, and Calvin and Wyatt Schwickerath; siblings David (Nancy Gerber) Meier, Cheryl (John) Klemaseski, Paul (Pattie) Meier, and Marc (Julie) Meier; sister-in-law JoAnn Treichel; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Marvel Meier; mother-in-law Irene Treichel; her brother, Lynn Meier; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean and Kelly Treichel and Scott Treichel; and her niece, Andrea Wirch.
