Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Shirley beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025.

Born on January 6, 1940, to Helen and Peter Sauser, Pat and her twin brother, Peter, were the first babies born in Dakota County that year. Raised in Lakeville, she cherished many fond memories of growing up on a farm with her three siblings. Pat graduated as the salutatorian from Lakeville High School, where she also participated in cheerleading.

In 1960, Pat married Roger H. Shirley, and they made their home in Farmington, where they raised their three daughters. Pat was a devoted and loving mother, and she enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a hairstylist. She found great joy in caring for her clients, always striving to help them look and feel their best. Pat also had a keen sense of fashion and took pride in her own appearance.

Pat was an extraordinary person—strong, vibrant, and active throughout much of her life. She was a long-time member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and enjoyed many adventures with the Castle Rockers, as well as socializing with the Cocktail Club. An avid gardener, Pat spent countless hours tending to her two gardens, growing vegetables and generously sharing the harvest with others. She was also known for her wonderful cooking, particularly her cinnamon rolls, strawberry jam, and Chicken Catherine. She loved traveling to Hawaii, Italy and Puerto Rico with Roger as well as the annual family vacations with their kids and grandkids enjoying the lakes of Minnesota.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother Peter, sister Helen and infant grandson Nicholas Pellicci. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Roger; daughters Lori (John) Pellicci, Michelle (Erik) Switzer, and Kathryn (Tim) Anderberg; grandchildren Lauren (Ethan) DuBois, Sarah (Jorgen) Salveson, Kaitlyn Pellicci, Kelsey (Austin) Burandt, Ryan (Mikala Caron) Switzer, Ella Anderberg, and Tait Anderberg; great grandchildren Bennett DuBois, Elsie DuBois, Maverick Switzer and Palmer Switzer; brother Tom (Dale) Sauser and brothers-in-law Robert Shirley and Jim Laabs.
