Obituary

Patricia Mary Cox April 21, 1955 – October 28, 2026

Patty Cox, 71, of Farmington, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026.

Patty was born on April 21, 1955, in Lynwood, California, one of five children of Adeline and W. Owen Lee. She grew up sideby side with her siblings and cousins, spending long, carefree days exploring together. Those childhood bonds shaped her lifelong love of family. Following graduation from Lake Elsinore High School in 1973, she moved to Minnesota to live with her sister Karen and family. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Scott. They married in 1975 and built a full, bustling home together, raising five children.

Life with Patty meant summers at the lake, winters spent trying to stay warm, and music always filling the air. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by people, and she spent her life taking care of them. She cared for her own children, babysat for countless families, and was always the first to help a neighbor in need. Her family and community leaned on her, and she never let them down.

Patty was her children's and grandchildren's biggest fan. She rarely missed a game, meet, or recital, and she could always be heard cheering the loudest from the sidelines. A devout Catholic, Patty drew strength and comfort from her faith throughout her life, including in her final days.

Patty is survived by her husband of 51 years, Scott; her children, Lee (Pui) Cox, Patrick (Kelly) Cox, Mary Rae (Witou) Kim, Rick (Melissa) Cox, and Jon Cox; her grandchildren, Delaney, Brody, Rosalie, Ollie, Soriya, Norah, Maverick, and Myla; her siblings, Donna (Mike) McCarthy, James (Lisa) Lee, and Mark (Kris) Lee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adeline and W. Owen; her sister, Karen; and her niece, Colleen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Farmington, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.

Those wishing to honor Patty may send flowers or make a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org).
