Obituary

Patricia A. Wallin, Age 98, Lakeville, MN

Patty was born in Minneapolis on January 10, 1928, to Leo and Catherine Garaghty. She and John Wallin were married at Holy Rosary Catholic Church May 7, 1948, and soon settled in Lakeville, MN "one block north and one block west of the post office" where they raised their four children.

Patty worked a variety of jobs in food service and hospitality but spent nearly 30 years at the job she loved, preparing lunch for children in Lakeville Schools. In retirement Patty decided she loved to travel including cruises thru the Panama Canal, a beloved trip to the Holy Lands, and to Ireland (her other Holy Land). She was also able to put her good humor and love for entertaining to good use as a part of the Lakeville Heritage Center Red Hat Chorus. Patty sang and danced inviting everyone in the crowd to sing the fun tunes of the past.

Deeply committed to her Catholic faith she served in many roles at All Saints in Lakeville. She served hundreds of funeral lunches and festival dinners. But just as important to her was being a volunteer pastoral minister visiting the sick and bringing communion to those whose health or age prevented them from getting to Mass. Her family is grateful to those at All Saints who continue this ministry and brought her communion each week once she could no longer attend Sunday Mass.

Patty is preceded in death by her husband John, her daughter Jackie Sauber, her parents and all her siblings. She is survived by her children Patrick (Anne), Mary Kay (Lyle) Bungert, Carol (Terry) Gaddis, and son-in-law Peter Sauber, as well as 9 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to All Saints Parish for their ongoing spiritual care of their mother. In addition, they appreciate the care provided to her by Highview Hills and Minnesota Hospice.
