Obituary

Raymond J Quinn, Jr. of Apple Valley passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 79, with his family at his side.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son Casey Patrick, and brother Patrick Quinn.

Survived by wife of 53 years, Maxine Christianson Quinn, daughter Christine (Nicolas) Igl, grandsons Lucas and Mason Igl, sisters Laura Pearson, Judy Quinn and Carole Quinn, and many nieces & nephews.

Ray was born in St. Paul and was the oldest of 5 children. The family lived in Inver Grove Heights, where he graduated from Simley High School in 1964.  He enlisted in the US Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam and Germany.

After returning from the service he went to work at the newly opened North Star Steel in Newport, were he work for almost 30 years until he retired. Ray met Maxine in April 1972, and they were married 5 months later in August and remained together for 53 years.  They had two children, Christine and Casey.

Ray loved the Vikings!  Even after moving to Wisconsin and then to Texas, he stayed true to Vikes.  He loved fishing and heading north to Devils Lake & the cabin during his days off work.  Also loved to travel, and while Maxine worked for the airlines they took many memorable trips.

Internment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans foundation (DAV), which supports homeless and disabled veterans (ww.DAV.org) or the Minnesota VA Medical Center (https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/50797090/).
